Universal Method: Unicode Input

Every symbol has a Unicode code point. Here's how to type any of them:

  • Windows: Hold Alt, type the decimal code on the numpad (e.g., Alt + 0128 for €). Num Lock must be on.
  • Mac: Ctrl + Cmd + Space opens the emoji/symbol picker. Search by name.
  • Linux: Ctrl + Shift + U, then type the hex code, then Enter.
  • Any device: Copy-paste from this page. That's what it's here for.

Troubleshooting: Symbol Doesn't Appear

  • Alt codes not working on Windows: Make sure Num Lock is ON and you're using the numpad, not the top number row.
  • Getting a different symbol: Your keyboard layout might be set to a different region. Check your input language settings.
  • Box or question mark appears: The font you're using doesn't support that character. Try a different font (Arial, Segoe UI, or Noto fonts support most currency symbols).
  • Mac shortcuts not working: Some shortcuts depend on your keyboard language setting. Use the Character Viewer (Ctrl + Cmd + Space) as a reliable fallback.
