The Latin cross ✝ (U+271D) is the most recognized cross symbol globally. It features a longer vertical beam crossed by a shorter horizontal beam about one-third from the top. It is the primary symbol of Christianity and appears on churches, gravestones, jewelry, and religious texts worldwide.
Orthodox Cross (☦) — The Three-Bar Cross
The Orthodox cross ☦ (U+2626) has three horizontal bars: the top represents the sign placed above Jesus, the middle is the main crossbar, and the bottom diagonal bar represents the footrest. It is used by Russian Orthodox, Serbian Orthodox, and other Eastern Christian churches.
Maltese Cross (✠) — Eight-Pointed Cross
The Maltese cross ✠ (U+2720) features eight points representing the eight obligations of the Knights of Malta. Today it is used by fire departments, ambulances, and various orders of chivalry.
